Shaker Woods Farm Goat Milk Soap Ingredients

All of our purchased ingredients are either cosmetic grade or food grade, depending on how the particular item is sold. We use the safest and best ingredients that we can find. We make no medical claims with our soap. We want you to know the properties of each ingredient found in our products in order to help you choose the right one for your skin type.

Almond Oil, Sweet: Moisturizing, contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and a small amount of E. Protects, nourishes, excellent penetrating abilities. Good for all skin types. Relieves itching, dryness and inflammation.

Beeswax: A natural by-product of bee honey production. Scientific tests show a variety of beneficial uses to include: anti-bacterial, anti-dandruff and sebum equalizing, anti-microbial and healing, anti-irritant, purifying agent, preservative, and reducing free radicals. It is an excellent emollient.

Bergamot Essential Oil: Often used in the treatment of depression, stress, tension, fear, hysteria, infection (all types including skin), psoriasis, eczema and general convalescence.

Calendula: Good for many skin conditions, including athlete's foot, eczema, sores and sprains. Also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Cedarwood Essential Oil: Believed to have antiseptic, anti-putrescent, anti-seborrheic, aphrodisiac, astringent, fungicidal, stimulant (circulatory) properities.. In India, this oil has been shown to possess insecticidal and anti-fungal properties.

Castor Oil: Moisturizing, conditioning, good sudsing qualities, and has humectant properties.

Citral Essential Oil: Known for invigorating and antiseptic properties. An excellent anti-depressant. It has also been used in treatments of acne, athlete's foot, insect repellent, muscle aches, oily skin, scabies, and stress.

Citronella Essential Oil: Credited with having therapeutic properties as an antiseptic, deodorant, insecticide, parasitic, tonic and as a stimulant. Most people associate it with its insecticide properties and for conditioning oily skin and hair.

Clary Sage Essential Oil: Viewed by aromatherapists as an antidepressant and antispasmodic. It is also well known as an agent to clean greasy hair.

Clove Leaf Essential Oil: Credited as being beneficial for skin irritations.

Coconut Oil: Makes soap lather beautifully, adds hardness to the bar.

Comfrey: Good for various skin conditions -acne, boils, burns, insect bites, swelling, wound healing.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Soothing on skin ailments such as burns, blisters, wounds, insect bites, lice and skin infections. There is also a history of Eucalyptus essential oil being applied to sore muscles and joints.

Essential Oil: Made from actual plant material. The common process is distillation, sometimes through pressing or infusion in oil.

Fennel Essential Oil: Credited with being an antiseptic and antispasmodic. It is also believed to be invigorating, restoring, stimulating, and warming.

Fragrance Oil: Generally a blend of essential oils and synthetic compounds to create a scent. Some scents cannot be achieved through distillation of plant material (e.g. strawberry or peach) or may be prohibitively expensive to do so (e.g. rose and neroli).

Honey: Honey has an ancient history of healing properties. It is a natural antimicrobial as well as humectant. It has been used to treat burns and other skin irritations to reduce inflammation, swelling, and infection.

Goat Milk: A fragile miracle of nature that cannot be synthetically reproduced. It is unique in natural moisturizing and skin nourishing properties, sometimes described as "nature's liposome." Milk delivers vitamins A,C, and calcium directly to the skin.

Lavender Essential Oil: Used to relieve tension, tiredness and feelings of depression. Can be used to heal burns and insect bites. Has skin healing and antibacterial properties.

Lemongrass Essential Oil: Has antiseptic, antibacterial, and antiviral properties and good deodorizing properties. In aromatherapy lemongrass is used as an anti-depressant, soothes aches and pains.

Lime Essential Oil: Has a crisp, refreshing citrus scent often used by aromatherapists for its uplifting and revitalizing properties. It can also act as an astringent on skin where it is reputed to help clear oily skin.

Oatmeal: A gentle and very effective natural skin cleanser, or facial scrub. An excellent multi-purpose skin care treatment, oatmeal helps to relieve dryness, restoring natural moisture balance to aid in healing minor irritations due to the many causes and sources of skin sensitivities.

Olive Oil: An emollient, soothing to inflamed skin, makes an especially mild soap and has humectant properties.

Orange Essential Oil: Has anti-depressant, antiseptic properties. Also know for it's cleansing properties.

Palm Oil: Makes a hard bar that cleans well.

Palmarosa Essential Oil: Properties include use as an antiseptic and bactericidal. It is used extensively for hydration and as a fragrance component in cosmetics, especially soaps, due to its excellent tenacity.

Peppermint Essential Oil: Has anti-bacterial properties, relieves itching and minor skin conditions.

Rhassoul Clay: Impressive for its absoption capacity due to its high level of ion exchange. It is reputed to reduce dryness and flakiness, improve skin clarity and elasticity. It is rich in magnesium, silica, potassium and calcium.

Rosemary Essential Oil: Stimulates cell renewal and improves dry or mature skin, easing lines and wrinkles. It may aid in the treatment of acne, blemishes or dull dry skin by fighting bacteria and regulating oil secretions. It may also aid circulation.

Sodium Hydroxide: Traditionally used in soap making as the alkaloid agent in the saponification process. In a properly cured soap, sodium hydroxide becomes "neutral" (i.e. neither acidic or alkaline), thus perfectly safe for use on any skin type.

Soybean Oil: Adds whiteness and hardness to soap.

Tea Tree Essential Oil: Known for its healing properties. Can penetrate the skin to reach otherwise unaccessible places like under fingernails. An effective antiseptic and kills bacteria quickly. Also an effective fungicide.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil: Some believe Ylang Ylang may assist with problems such as high blood pressure, rapid breathing and heartbeat, and nervous conditions in aroma therapy.
